Main Point: Chapter 9 begins a new section in Romans. Paul has articulated the gospel of a righteous status to sinners received by faith whereby all who believe are saved (1:16-17). Paul explains that the reason any sinner has received this salvation is foundationally due to God’s sovereign, eternal purpose of election (9:11). Therefore, God’s word will not fail (9:6-13), Paul now offers responses to objections to the doctrine of election. First, does this mean that God is not fair (9:14)?

3. God’s Sovereign Mercy Is the One Thing Standing between Us and our
   Complete Ruin.(v17-18)

Main Point: Chapter 9 begins a new section in Romans. Paul has articulated the gospel of the gracious accounting to sinners of a status of righteousness from God received through faith in Jesus Christ (Chp 1-8), this gospel was mostly rejected by his Paul’s kinsmen/Israel, which raises the question, “Is God Sovereign?”

Main Point: Chapter 9 begins a new section in Romans. Paul has articulated the gospel of the gracious accounting to sinners of a status of righteousness from God received through faith in Jesus Christ (Chp 1-8).  This gospel which was rejected by his brothers directs Paul’s lament, will not be effectual unless there has been a substitution of a righteous mediator for the sake of his brothers, and informs our callings for the sake of our brothers.

Main Point: The Resurrection of Jesus would be the key to unlocking the meaning of Ezekiel’s visions of renewal and healing for God’s people.

1. It would begin with a trickle out of Jerusalem

3. It would culminate the changing of the unchangeable
